ROCHESTER - Geraldine Chase, 87, of Rochester Hill Rd., died Sunday, April 3, 2016, at her home after a long illness. Born October 19, 1928, in Rochester, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Hoyt) Schafer.
Geraldine had lived in Rochester all her life. She is a graduate of Spaulding High School. She worked for many years at General Electric in Somersworth but later decided to become a homemaker and care for the family business. She is a member of the First united Methodist Church in Rochester where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed snowmobiling, ice skating and traveling with her husband to many places such as Alaska, Norway, Fiji and other beautiful places.
Members of her family include her husband of 62 years, Bernard Chase of Rochester, her daughters; Shirley Mathews and her husband Kevin of Lebanon, Maine, and Beverly Dahl and her husband Karl of Londonderry, Vt., her grandchildren; Keith Mathews and his wife Chloe of Boston, Paul Mathews and his wife Kendra of Dover and Ashley Dahl of Londonderry, Vt., three very special caregivers who the family would like to thank, Terry Whitten, Paula Richey and Kim Hatch.
