A thank you and a promise from The Rochester Voice

In readership growth, individual subscriptions and news coverage, The Rochester Voice had a year like no other in 2017.

And going forward, we are confident we are positioned to continue to deliver the news, features and analysis readers have come to expect from us since we began our online newspaper in April 2012.

Some of the improvements made this year include reformatting our Home Page to allow more compelling ad dimensions for our advertisers, relaunching our publication as The Rochester Voice (from the former Lebanon Voice) in July and fully enabling all advertising on mobile devices thereby increasing impressions and click-throughs for all of our clients.

Meanwhile, we also installed a slide show format for our top stories, which allows greater dimensions for our lead art every day.

On the philanthropic side we donated portions of our profits to such causes as My Breast Cancer Awareness and Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness.

Through all of the improvements we've made at the paper, we have consistently held the line on subscriptions costs, which have never risen since they began a year and a half ago. That means that for less than 14 cents a day, you can get the latest news from the Greater Rochester area delivered to your desktop, laptop, tablet or any other mobile device every day (with no trees killed).

On the readership side, our growth is record breaking, going from about 2,400 visitors a day in January 2017 to more than doubling to over 5,400 visitors a day last month.

Unique monthly visitors rose from 25,000 last January to almost 43,000 last month.

And our Facbook likes rose by almost 25 percent since July, from about 1,700 to well over 2,200.

Yes, indeed, it is very satisfying how are numbers have grown, however, we know that is only because our readers have come to depend on us and trust us. We do not take that trust lightly.

So thank you, thank you, thank you. We will continue to do our best to deliver the news you deserve in 2018.

We at The Rochester Voice wish all of our readers and followers a joyous and prosperous new year and look forward to serving you in 2018.
