BELMONT - The 2019 Robbie Mills Memorial Golf Tournament raised nearly $30,000 in support of youth-serving groups in the region. The event was held on Sept. 12 at the Lochmere Country Club in Tilton.

Proceeds from the event, which was hosted by Atlantic Broadband and the Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region, will be distributed to several youth-serving organizations within Atlantic Broadband's service areas. Past recipients include Spaulding Youth Center (Northfield, NH), Boys & Girls Club of Lakes Region (Concord, NH), Granite State Children's Alliance/Child Advocacy Center (Belknap, Carroll, Strafford Counties), Bread and Roses Kitchen (Franklin, NH), WABAN (Sanford, ME), Haven (Rochester, NH), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and the Greater Lakes Region Charitable Fund Children's Auction.

"We extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors, donors, tournament players and the employees of Atlantic Broadband, Boys & Girls Club, and Lochmere Country Club whose generous support and hard work made the event such a success," said Edward Merrill, Regional General Manager for Atlantic Broadband.

The event kicked off with a morning breakfast at Lochmere Country Club and shotgun start. The reigning tournament champions from Duggan Concrete once again took home the trophy. Second place was awarded to the team from Wood and Clay and third place awarded to the team from the Spaulding Youth Center.

Lunch, remarks from Mix 94.1 morning host, Fred Caruso, awards and raffle drawings, donated by more than 35 businesses, were held in early afternoon.

Now in its 20th year, the event began as an effort to honor the memory of Robbie Mills, son of Wendy Mills, who is a longtime Atlantic Broadband employee. Robbie was a 14-year-old Laconia boy who was killed in 1998 for his trail bike by two older teens. The event was launched that year to support youth-serving organizations in the Lakes Region.

net2phone was this year's marquee sponsor. Platinum sponsors were Synacor and Binnie Media. Other sponsors included Open Vault (Gold Sponsor), the Cohen Family, 4th Wave Technologies (both Silver Sponsors) and The Hawk 104.9 and WEEI (Bronze sponsors).
