ALFRED, Maine - The Acton woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband in front of their two young children in February has been indicted in his death.

Kandee Weyland, 46, of 2455 Milton Mills Road, was also indicted on a restraining order charge for having contact with her husband, Scott Weyland, 43, on Feb.22, the day he died.

The mother of Scott Weyland said hours after the deadly confrontation that his estranged wife brought the couple's two children to his home to watch their father die.

"She had primary custody until she was served papers yesterday," Gay Weyland, a retired Sanford detective, said at the time. "She didn't bring them for a visit; she brought them to watch what she did."

Weyland, who had recently moved in to live with his mom at 1097 Milton Mills Road, died upon arrival at Southern Maine Medical Center in Sanford shortly after the assault.

The couple's divorce had been made final a few days before the incident, and Scott Weyland had been awarded custody of the two boys just a day before. Kandee Weyland learned she was losing her kids just hours before she allegedly drove to his house with the boys in the car, killing her former husband outside his home.

Gay Weyland said her son had watched his father die in a tragic accident when he was three and wanted nothing more than to be a good father for his kids.

"We've been fighting for 10 months to get those kids to a safe place," she said tearfully as she talked to reporters on her back stoop just hours after the tragedy.

The house in which the children and Kandee Weyland had been living had earlier been deemed uninhabitable.

Kandee Weyland, who continues to be held without bail at York County Jail, faces up to 25 years if convicted.

The York County grand jury indictments were handed down on Tuesday and released on Wednesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been gathered to move forward with trial.
