DOVER - Three inmates from the Strafford County Jail were transported for suspected drug overdoses earlier today.

The suspected overdoses occurred shortly before 9 a.m. after the morning headcount was completed when jail personnel noticed suspicious activity, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.

Further investigation led to the jail staff administering Narcan, a heroin overdose antidote, prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

All three overdose victims are expected to survive.

An investigation into how the inmates got the drugs is being conducted by the Strafford County Sheriff's Office.

There was no clear indication as to what charges may be leveled against the three inmates.
