LEBANON - A camper fire at Potter's Place Campground on Saturday night is being blamed on an animal that may have chewed electrical wiring, said Tom Potter of the campground today.

The fire was called in to Lebanon Fire and EMS around 8 p.m., and drew two firetrucks as well as an ambulance to make sure an elderly couple who lived in the trailer were OK.

Potter said the two, both in their 80s, got out in plenty of time but were a little shook up. They were checked out and OK'd by medical staff at the scene.

Potter said he believed damage to the 28-foot travel trailer was minor. He said they found an animal nest near where the fire broke out.

Northeast Fire Alerts had reported mutual aid being called, but Potter said he'd only seen Lebanon crews, adding they did a great job dousing the fire quickly. Crews were able to spot what they thought was the origin of the fire in the back of the camper near an electrical connection.

No injuries were reported and no other structures were affected, according to the Lebanon Fire-EMS Facebook page.

Potter's Place is an adult seasonal campground located off Baker's Grant Road.
