ROCHESTER - With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Geraldine Anna "Geri" Blakeney, 90, formerly of Sheridan Ave., on Monday, October 16, 2017, at the Dover Rehab and Living Center in Dover. Born September 27, 1927 in Dartmouth, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Florence (White) DeYoung.
Geri has lived in Rochester most of her life. She was employed as the Treasurer of the Rochester Fair Association. She was a member of the Rochester Country Club where she loved to play golf. She was Club Champion in 1971. She also loved to watch golf on television.
Besides golf she had a love of baking and was known for her pumpkin pies and her ginger snap cookies. She also enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and spending time with loved ones.
She is predeceased by her husband, Oliver Blakeney in 2004, her sisters; Joan Patterson and Shirley Manuel.
Members of her family include her Bothers Ralph DeYoung and his wife Sharon, Timothy DeYoung and his wife Eleanor and Paul DeYoung and his wife Beverley all of Dartmouth, N.S.; her sisters Lorraine Mattatall of Dartmouth, N.S., Margaret Williams of Musquodoboit Harbour, N.S., Marilyn Levesque and her husband Lucien of Rochester. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She held a special bond with her nephews Jason Levesque and his wife Sarah, and David Mattatall and his wife Elaine and her nieces Tina Curcio and her husband Gene, Debbie Hall and her husband Don, and Gail Mattatall and her Fiancé Brad, along with her great niece, Kira Levesque and her great nephew, Devon Daskey.
