Ants in the sugar? It must be August

This morning ants in the sugar canister which is securely tightened.

Ants in the rice cakes, which are twist tied.

They say you eat a dozen spiders in a lifetime.

I wonder how many thousands of ants.

So the sugar canister is tossed. The remainder of the rice cakes go in a Ziploc bag in the Fridge.

Just washed down the countertops with bleach for the third time today. One small satisfaction I've found. If you just squirt an ant with bleach they go right to sleep. It's awesome.

Brought out new ant hotels, but these ants are so tiny who knows if they can even see the doors of the hotel.

Which reminds me of that hotel in California. "You can come in anytime you want ... but you can never leave."

You know everything would be better with just one thing: a good, hard freeze.

That's right. I'm good with summer. I'm all set.

The humidity or dew point or heat index. Whatever the &#%@ you want to call it. I'm done.

Oh to come out in the morning and feel your nostrils flinch as they hit temps in the 20s or 30s. You know how it feels that first time you feel it sometime in mid- to late October. It's absolutely exhilarating.

And the best thing about it?

No ants in the sugar.
