DOVER - Ashley Nicole Shunk, 20, of Old Rochester Road, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 as a result of a car accident. Born August 31, 1998 in Portsmouth, the daughter of Jason Shunk and Elaine Courtemanche.
She is survived by her parents, Elaine Courtemanche of Dover, Jason Shunk and his wife Kim of Essex Junction, Vt.; brother Matthew Shunk and Ashley St. Pierre of South Berwick, Maine; half siblings Jackson Shunk, Madison Shunk and Ellie Shunk; maternal grandparents, Charlene Courtemanche, Joseph Courtemanche and paternal grandparents Kenny and Gail Shunk; aunt and uncles, James and Sasha Shunk, Keith Courtemanche, Andrea and Marc Wiltfong; cousins, Jake and Joshua Shunk, David and Bryan King, Carter and Andrea Wiltfong, Rachel Hyatt and Jamie Rogers; and her most beloved cat Nahla.
After attending SMCC in Maine and Great Bay Community College towards a nursing degree, she was currently working at Tuckers Restaurant in Dover.
Ashley was a competitive cheerleader and runner. She competed in many cheer and running/mudrudder competitions.
While Ashley has left us far too soon, she has left us her legacy of joy, kindness, and unwavering love. These gifts we will forever treasure. In Ashley's short life here in this world she made many friends and admirers wherever she went. Her infectious smile, free spirit, and gentle demeanor will be deeply missed by many and were lucky to have had her, if only briefly, in our lives.
