SANBORNVILLE - Barbara (Herrick) Rouleau, 86, died at home in Sanbornville, N.H., on Friday, January 13, 2017, with her loving family by her side. She had lived in Brookfield and Sanbornville her entire life. Barbara was born on December 23, 1930 to George and Edith Herrick.
Barbara attended Nute High School in Milton, N.H., where she served as a class officer. She graduated in 1948 and married Samuel Rouleau, Jr. who had recently returned from his service in the Navy.
Barbara worked in area shoe factories prior to having children. She managed the home office for her husband Sam's logging business for over five decades. In her fifties, Barbara became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in that capacity until her retirement. She loved working with the elderly.
Barbara was an active member of her church, St. John the Baptist of Sanbornville, N.H. Barbara privately supported causes she believed in and was a lifelong conservative.
Barbara was well known for her cooking, love of children, and making visitors feel welcome at the family's home. She was strongly devoted to her husband Sam, family, friends and her faith. Barbara was beloved for her kind and generous nature, and respected for her many talents. Barbara will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her five children: Cindy Howard (spouse Mike Howard), Linda Rouleau, Syd Rouleau, Cy Rouleau and Amy Glidden; sister-in-law Yvonne (Rouleau) Patton (spouse Jim Patton); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Samuel Rouleau, Jr.; sister Helen (Herrick) Lyons, and brother Paul Drapeau.
