LEBANON - The Lebanon 250th Committee has announced that longtime historical society member and one of the town's foremost historians Barbara Sewell will preside as the Grand Marshal of Saturday's parade.

The announcement was made by 250th Committee chair Nancy Wyman, who is also a historical society member.

"We're very thrilled that Barbara has agreed to be our Grand Marshal," Wyman said on Tuesday. "She done so much work on the history of Lebanon."

The parade begins Saturday at 10 a.m.

Wyman said organizers are very excited about the four-day celebration, which will include a barn dance Saturday, a ham and bean supper Monday night and a town picnic on Monday at Skydive New England that will include free ice cream for everybody.

She also said there will be loads of fun activities for children during the weekend, with two large tents and several smaller ones dedicated to kids' games and exhibits.

Wyman stressed that organizers have warmly invited folks from surrounding towns to come "celebrate with us."

"We've put out a lot of advertising asking everyone to come," she said.

Most of the activities will take place at Bull Field next to the Hanson School.

Other venues will include an antique car show from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at Schoolhouse Ice Cream on Baker's Grant Road, the barn dance at Seven Elms Saturday night and a Gully Oven fiddle concert Monday at 1 p.m. featuring fiddler Milt Jackson. The Gully Oven historical site is located on Gully Oven Road.

The Fourth of July picnic at Skydive New England runs from noon-3 p.m. Folks can bring their own food or buy meals at the Ripcord Café. Skydive New England is off of Upper Guinea Road.
