Body dragged from Cocheco River in downtown Dover

DOVER - An autopsy is scheduled for today in the death of a man whose body was found on Wednesday in the Cocheco River in downtown Dover.

Police and rescue responded around 11:20 a.m. to the area behind 3 Green St. in Dover for a report of a body in the river.

A Dover Housing Authority building where elderly and disabled people reside is located near the area of the river where the body was found.

Responders were able to locate and recover the body of an adult white male. At this time the Dover Police Department is not releasing the name of the individual, pending notification of next of kin.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of the man's death. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

Officers from the State of New Hampshire's Marine Patrol Unit also assisted at the scene.
