Buxton man, 2 others in his car ages 29 and 7, among dead in head-on Route 4 crash

BERWICK, Maine - A Buxton man and a seven-year-old boy in his car are among four who died in a horrific head-on crash in Berwick on Saturday.

Berwick Police said today that they won't be releasing any names of those who died until all the next of kin from both cars are notified.

Police say that the accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when a 1994 Honda Civic operated by a 31-year-old male of Buxton lost control following an improper pass and slid into the path of a 2014 Ford Explorer operated by a 46-year-old female of Woburn, Mass.

The three male occupants of the Honda, including the driver and passengers, ages 29 and seven, died at the scene.

A 73-year-old female passenger in the Ford died later at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.

A 22-year-old female passenger of the Honda, the driver of the Ford and two of its passengers, a 49-year-old man and a 16-year-old female were transported to area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, Berwick Police say.

The stretch of road where the accident occurred is about a mile or so from the Links at Outlook golf course. The road remained closed for about seven hours during an investigation of how the crash occurred.
