ROCHESTER - Carleton Lewis Sicard died peacefully on Nov. 20, 2015. Carleton, the son of J. Clarence Sicard and Mary Ruth (Darrah) Sicard, was born on July 6, 1919, in Dover, N.H. The family moved to Rochester, N.H., when he was very young and Rochester remained his home.
He was a graduate of Rochester High School and joined the Army during World War ll, serving in the South Pacific. After the war he met the love of his life, Irene Merrill, and they married on June 5, 1948, and raised three daughters.
He loved his family, travel and camping. He and Irene camped across the lower 48 states six times and, upon retiring as Postmaster from the United States Postal Service, he served several years as the Park Host at White Lake State Park.
Carleton was a proud veteran of World War ll and was also a long-standing member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge No. 21.
Carleton was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Irene Sicard; his parents; loving stepfather Leslie Thurston; brothers Clarence "Bud" Sicard and Robert Sicard; sisters Martha Pratt and Norma Varney; nephew George "Snuffy" Pratt; and son-in-law Robert LeHoullier.
Surviving Carleton are his sister, Dorris Cummings of Yorba Linda, Cal.; his daughters, Susan (Leslie) Horne of Cedar Park, Tex., Cynthia LeHoullier of Rochester and Diane (Gregory) Drake of Rochester; grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Horne of Cedar Park, Tex., Aaron Horne of Cedar Park Tex., Michael (Hui Yen) LeHoullier of Taiwan, Jeremy (Tammy) LeHoullier of Dover, N.H., and Garry (Johanna) Drake of Watertown, N.Y. He also left behind nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
