Cause of blaze unlikely to be found in fatal Sanford fire

SANFORD, Maine - The State Fire Marshals Office announced on Sunday that a 53-year-old Sanford man died in a morning fire on Deering Neighborhood Road.

The blaze swept quickly through the man's house and attached garage where his body was found by first responders.

Charles Kerrigan was identified as the victim in the blaze.

The buildings burned to the ground.

The fire was first reported by a neighbor about 10 a.m.

Kerrigan had lived alone.

Fire marshals say they do not expect to be able to determine a cause due to the extensive damage to the building.
