MIDDLETON - Charles Hamlin Brock III (loving known as Harley Charlie) 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home with his children by his side.
He was born November 30, 1947 in Dover, the first son to Charles and Priscilla (Hadden) Brock. He graduated from Dover High School in 1965.
Upon graduation, he worked for the Kirsch Company. He started in the warehouse and worked his way to General Manager. Through the Kirsch Company he traveled to Florida, California and Texas, eventually settling in Rochester, N.Y. where he married his first wife, Rita and started a family.
Family brought him back to the Dover area in the 1980s were he owned and operated a bar, My Brother's Place, with his brother Robert. It wasn't a fancy establishment but a perfect place for a burger and beer after work. It was here where he met his second wife, Angel, and also many close friends.
Chuck retired to Middleton, on Sunrise Lake with Angel. Together, they created a happy place where they both enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Chuck found great joy riding his motorcycle, telling "big fish" stories and coin collecting. He was a man who lived by his own rules and danced to the beat of his own drummer. He was a lover of American history, politics, westerns, crossword puzzles and a strong drink. His unique style, warmth and generous spirit will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Chuck is survived by his children Shannon (Brock) Vitas, her husband Eli of Rochester, Sean Brock of Middleton, Dennis and his wife Lisa Sanborn of Springfield, Vt., Cindy Sanborn and partner Gary Greenaway of Pittsfield, Maine, and Linda Sanborn and husband Eric Scheuer of Durham.
Chuck is also survived by his siblings, James Brock of California, Holly Hunt of Sedona, Ariz. and Laura Strausbaugh of Florida. His aunt and uncle Connie (Brock) and Larry Harr and many cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Priscilla Hunt and Charles Brock II, his first wife Rita Brock, second wife Angela Brock, siblings Robert, Peter and Lisa Brock and grandson Adam Rainaud.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the compassionate care he received while being ill to Cornerstone VNA, Rochester Cardiology, Rochester Vascular Surgeons, Rochester Hill Family Practice, Dover Endocrinology, Rochester Foot and Ankle and Seacoast Kidney and Hypertension.
