FARMINGTON - Charles L. Doke, 66, of South Main Street in Farmington, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 16, 1950, in Bethesda, Md., to Donald W. and Jeanne C. Doke.
Charlie proudly served his country from 1968-1971 serving a year in Viet Nam.
Upon moving his family to Farmington, Charlie worked for 10 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard at the Power Plant. After retiring from the Navy Yard, he worked for several heating service companies and then started his own heating service company which he ran with his son, Chuck, for 26 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Farmington Planning Board until his passing.
Charlie enjoyed karaoke, playing pool, and riding his Harley with his TTMC brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, JoAnn, and his children Charles G. and fiancé Michelle LaBrecque; daughter Robyn M. and fiancé Chris Davis; three granddaughters, Kayla Spruce and husband Wesley, Sara Doke and Lauren Doke; two great-granddaughters Ciara Spruce and Charlie Spruce with great-grandson due in July; his mother Jeanne C. Doke and his siblings; Donald Doke, Jr., Jaunita Ohmann, and Nelva Neilsen and their families lovingly survive him. He is also survived by his many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Donald Doke, Sr., and his sister Valerie DeAngelis.
