ROCHESTER - A city man will fly like an Eagle this fall when he takes his place on the sidelines as the the first male cheerleader for the NFL Philadelphia Eagles football team.

Kyle Tanguay, 21, who learned dance at Fusion Dance Academy in Dover, made history on Tuesday when he was selected for the previously all-female squad.

The former Spaulding student is only the fourth male cheerleader in NFL history, joining Quinton Peron and Napolean Jinnies of the Los Angeles Rams and Jesse Hernandez of the New Orleans Saints.

Tanguay, who started dancing when he was just 10, was chosen along with 35 females from a pool of about 300 following a two-month competition.

He is currently a junior and dance major at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
