Choral Society registration, 1st rehearsal set for Sept. 8

ROCHESTER - Registration for the Granite State Choral Society's fall season will begin on, Sept. 8 at 3:15 p.m. in the chapel at the downtown First Church Congregational.

First rehearsal follows registration from 4-6:30 p.m. Much of the rehearsal will be in preparation of "A Patriot's Dream" to honor and recognize armed servicemen and women. Concert dates are Nov. 23 and 24.

GSCS is looking to add singers age 12 and up to their ranks. There are no auditions to join. GSCS believes that everybody has the ability to sing. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend one or more rehearsals in September before deciding to join the group.

Granite State Choral Society is also pleased to announce that scholarships to help offset the cost of dues, music and concert attire are available for any interested singers, ages 12 to 22 Application forms for GSCS's Youth Scholarship Fund can be found online at www.gschoralsociety.org.

The First Church Congregational is located at 63 S. Main Street.

The Granite State Choral Society is a non-auditioned community chorus dedicated to presenting quality choral performances, ranging in styles from classical to secular, and to promoting the appreciation of the choral arts. The members come from all walks of life, from age 12 on up, and range from experienced singers to novices just discovering the joys of choral singing. Knowledge of how to read music is not a requirement, but may be helpful. Make a difference through song, become a member this coming season.
