ROCHESTER - Theft arrests and potential jail time are piling up for a Rochester man.

Sean P. McInnis, 40, who was nabbed on Tuesday for allegedly stealing an item from Home Depot, was charged again on Wednesday in connection with a theft at Kohl's from just four days ago.

Police say they were called to the clothing store at Rochester Crossings on Sunday for a report of a male who had stolen a jacket. After reviewing surveillance footage the suspect was identified as McInnis. Police activated an arrest warrant for felony theft from a building due to McInnis' history, and he was served with the warrant on Wednesday at Strafford County Jail.

On Tuesday police got a phone call saying that McInnis was in the self-checkout line at Home Depot when he suddenly left the store without paying. The caller said when the theft alarms starting going off he broke into a run.

A short time later an officer saw him walking on North Main Street with the item in hand, but he dropped it and took off running again, police say.

Moments later McInnis, of South Main Street, was apprehended and charged with felony receiving stolen property (due to prior conviction) and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police also found that McInnis had a Strafford County Capias and a previous theft warrant from an alleged November theft at the North Main Street Hannaford's.

Both felonies carry maximum prison terms of seven years apiece.
