ROCHESTER - The Committee for Rochester's 2nd Annual Paint the City Blue event, which seeks to show appreciation for the city's police department, announced today its inaugural decorating contest.

The contest is open to both Rochester residences and businesses, who are encouraged to show their support of Rochester's men and women in blue by decorating their home or business with "anything blue," including lights, bows, ribbon, garland, and signage.

A panel of judges will travel around the city and determine which residences and business have the best display. The winners will be announced on Sept. 21 on the Thank a Rochester Cop Facebook page and will also be notified by phone or e-mail.

The prizes being sponsored by Hervey's Tire Co., Inc. on Union Street in Rochester for residences are: First Place $250, Second Place $150 and Honorable Mention $100. The winning business will receive a plaque to hang in their business, and also a complimentary E-Blast promotion, sponsored by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

If you wish to enter your residence or business in the decorating contest, contact Tanya Hervey at: tanyaleeherveyphotography.com. The deadline to enter the contest is 9/15.

Paint the City Blue is an effort by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Rotary Club, Holy Rosary Credit Union, Rochester Elks Lodge 1393 and Rochester Main Street.
