ROCHESTER - Straight Street Outreach, a ministry of Crosspoint Church, will hold a Substance Abuse Awareness Concert featuring several bands on Sept. 26 on the Rochester Common.

Some of the bands include Chasing the Light, Dean Richardson, Channels of Blessings, Lamar Callahan, Hanging Scarlet, RedGoneWhite, and Redblade with Dundo and Awkward Culture.

Also, Robert Frost, a nationally sought after conference speaker, and other noted speakers will take the stage and offer stories of victory and freedom. There will be activities for kids as well.

This is a community event and although the desire is to draw attention to this epidemic by having fun and enjoying great music, the opportunity will also be taken to offer resources and information to those suffering, their families and their friends.

There will be information booths, tables and tents covering the spectrum of recovery and support, help and information. These information booths will be set up throughout the park. The concert helps get this life saving information into the hands of those that need it and are often without the opportunity to receive it.

The concert runs from 1-7 p.m.

Straight Street Outreach is an outreach ministry committed to taking the love of Jesus Christ to the addicted and hurting wherever they are. Our mission statement is simple. Show Love. Shine Hope. Share Resources. The problem is severe and we view these words as much more than a statement. It is in essence, living the Gospel and a necessary way of life if we are to see people set free from this epidemic that is strangling our community and choking the life out of those we love.

In addition to this concert, Straight Street Outreach holds a weekly outreach event in Central Square in Rochester. Eventgoers gather around the Parsons Main Statue every Wednesday evening and create a festive fair like setting.

Music, conversation, sandwiches, drinks and more are shared to those in need.

A master barber is coming this week from Manchester to set up and cut hair for free.
