DOVER - The Rochester man who forced a standoff with police at his Amazon Park home last month waived a video arraignment today and will remain held at Strafford County Jail on high bail.

Ryan Cortina, 30, of 105 Whitehouse Road, Lot, 83, was arrested on Wednesday at the jail after his extradition back to New Hampshire following a period of treatment at Maine Medical Center due to an undisclosed health ailment he suffered while in custody on April 19.

Cortina had been listed in serious condition at Maine Med for several days prior to his release from the hospital. Rochester Police have noted his health issue was not the result of anything they did during the standoff or when he was taken into custody.

Cortina faces nine charges from Rochester Police: felony possession of an infernal machine (for allegedly possession an instrument or device and Cortina not being of police, fire, or military personnel) and reckless conduct (for allegedly having materials to blow up the trailer) as well as misdemeanor charges for domestic violence assault x 5, false imprisonment and criminal mischief.

Cortina's bail is set at $25,000 cash, Strafford County Assistant Attorney Joachim Barth said today.

Barth said the next step will likely be seeking grand jury indictments on the charges already filed. Normally the state has 60 days to secure those indictments.
