Daniel Hussey ... former president of Rochester Rotary

ROCHESTER - Daniel J. Hussey, 71, of Rochester, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 3, 2019 on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Born in Rochester on April 30, 1947, he was the son of Robert D. Hussey and Matilda Cebula Hussey.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jaca Goodwin Hussey and daughter, Sara E. Hussey of Washington; two brothers, John M. Hussey of Milton and David R. Hussey of Alton; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a graduate of Spaulding High School and UNH where he majored in Political Science.
Dan's lifelong love of history and government led him to run for and win a seat in the NH House of Representatives while still a senior at UNH making him the youngest State Representative in N.H. history (at that time). His political career was cut short by his obligation to serve as an Army Intelligence Officer for four and one-half years. After returning to Rochester, he earned an MBA from the Whittemore School of Business at UNH and served as a Rochester City Councilor for eight years.
Dan was an active member of Rotary for 35 years, serving as the Rochester Club President and Assistant District Governor. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Strafford County Home Builders; President of both the Homemakers of Strafford County (19 years) and Sole City Dance. Volunteerism was important to him; there are too many other organizations to mention.
Most recently Dan worked for the United Methodist Foundation of New England where he made many new friends. This kept a busy man just busy enough.
Dan will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who knew him
