SPRING VALLEY, Calif. - David Dennis Joos, of Spring Valley, California, died Tuesday morning, September 6, 2016, at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Bonita California after an extended illness with his loving wife Marty by his side. David was born in Waltham, Mass., on September 8, 1935. He was the son of the late Victor Joos Sr., and Marion L. Joos Dodds.
David grew up in Epping and Rochester, N.H., graduating from Spaulding High School, Class of 1953. David served in the Navy from 1953-1957. He attended Plymouth State College graduating in 1962. David was a Phys Ed teacher and coach in Dover schools from 1962-1965. He received his Master's in Education from San Diego State University and completed his doctoral studies at the University of Oregon. From 1968-1991 Mr. Joos served on the faculty of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, as Associate Professor and Coach. Upon retirement in 1991 David and Marty moved to Coronado, California, where David worked for 12 years at Quest Diagnostics in San Diego.
David leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Marlys Jerdee Joos of Spring Valley; one son David Matthew Joos and his wife Tara of Ottawa, Ontario, one daughter Nancy Joos of Avalon California, and three granddaughters, Sydney Joos and Nova and Hazel Baxter; one brother Victor Joos, and two sisters, Nancy Drew and Lauren Jacobs all of Milton; and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Baxter of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; and two brothers Peter Joos and Dennis Joos.
