Local schools, government and at least one area bank shuttered on Monday as the region dug itself out after a major snowfall that lasted much of the day on Sunday into the overnight.

Today around 9 a.m. snow flurries started up again after a short hiatus, however little additional accumulation is expected today.

Rochester, Milton and Lebanon all closed down town offices, with all nonessential personnel told to stay home.

Holy Rosary Credit Union also closed all of its branches.

Schools in MSAD 60, Milton and Rochester also closed.

At least one accident was reported in Milton during the storm, the crash occurring around 2:30 p.m. Sunday on Route 16 southbound near mile marker 28.

Milton Police and Fire were both immediately unavailable for additional information.
