Democrat Higgins ousts incumbent Republican Kacynski in District 22 seat

ROCHESTER - While it appears state Sen. Jim Gray, R-Rochester, was able to stave off a tough challenge from a Democrat challenger, one well-known Republican state rep incumbent didn't fare as well.

Topping the list of the fallen is incumbent Republican Thomas L. Kaczynski Jr., who lost his District 22 seat to Democrat Peg Higgins, 1919-1693.

Other state rep races went as follows:

District 7: incumbent Democrat Tim Fontneau 1,107, Republican Deborah Kaczynski 950.

District 9: incumbent Republican Steve Beaudoin 1,136, Elaine Lauterborn 933.

District 8: incumbent Democrat Donna Ellis 831, Republican Sharyn Cornish Stuart 713. District 10: incumbent Republican Jody McNally 931, Amy Cann 862.

District 11: incumbent Democrat Chuck Grassie 941, Republican Sue DeLemus 853.

District 12: Republican Mac Kittredge 965, Democrat Pamela Hubbard 943.

District 22: Democrat Peg Higgins 1,919, incumbent Republican Tom Kaczynski 1,693

District 23: incumbent Democrat Sandra Keans 1,952, Republican Don Leeman 1,884.

District 24: Republican Mona Perreault 1,720, Democrat Jeremiah Minihan 1,548, incumbent Libertarian Brandon Phinney 377.
