LEBANON - Agreeing that a disservice had been done to three retired Lebanon firefighters, selectman on Tuesday presented them with paperwork restoring their "Firefighter" designation to their personal vehicles license plates.

Former Fire Chief Skip Wood told the former Lebanon Voice newspaper last year that soon after present Lebanon Fire and EMS chief Dan Meehan took over the reins he canceled the plates in 2015.

Selectmen Chair Chip Harlow said on Tuesday that Meehan had agreed to have them reinstated.

"A disservice had been done by them taking your license plates away," Harlow said. "We talked to the chief, and he agreed."

"We're sorry that this happened, it never should have," agreed Selectperson Laura Bragg.

Wood, Dan Roy, and Jerry Kibbey were presented on Tuesday with paperwork that allows them to get back their "Firefighter" plates.

The town will also pick up the minimal cost to have their plates transferred.

Wood, Roy and Kibbey voiced gratitude and thanks to the entire board for allowing them to reclaim their rightful plates earned for their many years of service to the town.

The plate for a fourth retired Lebanon firefighter, Henry Stewart, will also be restored.
