Say hello to Dexter!

Dexter is a sweet senior dog that came to CVHS three months ago after his family could no longer care for him. He is looking for a forever home where he can play all day and soak up lots of attention!

When Dexter arrived at the shelter, it became apparent that he was in desperate need of medical attention. He was suffering from painful bilateral perineal hernias that caused him extreme discomfort. CVHS reached out to community members for help funding Dexter's procedure, and the surgery was successful. He has been doing well in his recovery, and the relief he feels is apparent in his improved demeanor!

Dexter has truly come out of his shell since his surgery, and has captivated shelter staff and volunteers alike! Despite his lovable personality, Dexter has had almost no interest from potential adopters. He has been anxiously waiting to be noticed for over a month. It's unclear whether his senior status is deterring people from considering him, but Dexter has so much love to give!

Dexter is such a joyful, lively dog. When he's let out of his kennel, he presents every one of his toys to visitors in an endearing greeting! He adores socializing with both humans and fellow canines, and he has the tail wags to prove it! The outdoors is his favorite place to be, and loves going for walks or playing in the yard.

Though he's nine years old, Dexter is so full of life, you'd think he was half his age! He loves to play, and would thrive in a family with another dog or children. Though he has a laid-back demeanor, Dexter must go to a home without any feline friends.

Do you have room for this fun-loving senior sweetheart? Come meet Dexter! Call the shelter at (603) 749-5322 to set up a time to meet him!
