ROCHESTER - Dorothy A. Smart, 87, of 3 Roseberry Lane, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover. She was born February 20, 1931 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Ellis and Addie (Haney) Brown.
She has resided in this area all of her life and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1949. She was a longtime member of Grace Community Church of Rochester where she volunteered weekly. Dotty worked as a quality inspector for Davidson Rubber for 17 years. She was recognized as an animal activist making many blankets for the dogs and cats.
Dotty was a beautiful spirit who loved God and her family. She got a lot of joy from helping others every day. She enjoyed the beach, gardening and quilting.
The widow of Valmore Smart who died in 2004, she is survived by sons, Dennis Fleming, Michael Fleming, David and wife Lori Smart; daughters, Terri and husband Jack DeForest and Rhonda Fleming; step daughter, Janet Nickless; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Cameron.

SERVICES: Family and friends may visit Friday, November 30, 2018 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Grace Community Church, 159 Rochester Hill Rd., Rochester, N.H., with Pastor Glen Boardman officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, N.H.
