ROCHESTER - Dorothy Horne, 95, of Rochester died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the Gafney Home after a brief illness. She was born September 1, 1921, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of James and Vera (Lamonaca) Bontaites.
She was a graduate of Somersworth High School, Class of 1939 and MacIntosh College. Dorothy worked as a secretary for UNH for 42 years, retiring at the age of 82. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of Rochester, NH. Her hobbies included knitting, reading and traveling, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her Italian Sunday dinners, welcoming everyone, and for all the family traditions.
The widow of Ernest E. Horne whom she married in 1949 and passed away in 1978, she is survived by sons, Ernest and wife Ellen Horne, James and wife Annette Horne, Alan and wife Jackie Horne all of Rochester, George and wife Anne Marie Horne, Allagash, Maine; daughters, Diana Couture and husband Paul, and Laurie Voss all of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother, George Bontaites; sister, Helen DiMuzio and son-in-law Gregory Voss.
