DOVER - Dover Police say they have arrested a man who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl.

Jonathan Hoy, 31, of 22 Richmond St., Dover, has been charged with felonious sexual assault.

Police say Hoy assaulted the girl on May 28 when she lived at an Abbey Lane residence he was visiting that night.

The Dover Police Department began its investigation after receiving a report about the incident on May 30.

Investigating detectives learned Hoy was wanted on an arrest warrant for a probation violation from North Carolina. On June 1 detectives located Hoy at his Richmond Street home and arrested him on that outstanding warrant.

While Hoy was awaiting extradition to North Carolina, detectives singled him out as a suspect and as a result obtained a warrant charging Hoy while he was still at Strafford County Jail.

He was arrested at the jail around 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hoy refused the services of a bail commissioner and was to be arraigned today in Strafford County Superior Court.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 603-742-4646 or the Dover Crimeline at 603-749-6000. The Dover Crimeline can also be contacted via www.dovernhcrimeline.org.
