DOVER - A Dover man will spend two weeks in jail for posting sexual images of his girlfriend on Facebook after the two had a spat last September.

Matthew Casson, 26, of 20 Ash St., pleaded guilty to a single felony count of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images in Strafford County Superior Court on Thursday.

According to a February indictment Casson committed the crime with the intent to "harass the victim."

Strafford County District Attorney Thomas Velardi said after the sentencing on Thursday that Casson put the photo up on Facebook and it was up long enough for the victim to see it and call Casson to complain.

To his credit he took it down immediately after she asked him too, Velardi said.

"The woman was greatly affected by this," Velardi said adding that he hopes the sentence shows the state is serious about deterring the public from engaging in such abhorrent behavior.

Casson is scheduled to report to the Strafford County Jail to serve his sentencing next Friday.

After he is released he will remain on probation for one year, Velardi said.

The maximum sentence for a Class B felony is seven years in state prison.
