Dover teen gets DUI after striking pedestrian

HAMPTON, N.H. - A Dover man has been arrested for driving under the influence after his car hit a pedestrian early this morning in Hampton, N.H.

The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Ashworth Avenue, a one-way southbound thoroughfare one street in from Ocean Boulevard which runs northbound and is considered Hampton Beach's main drag.

The crash occurred in the area between K Street and L Street.

Jacob Bailey, 18, of Dover was driving a Nissan when he hit 28-year-old Jacob Fields of Hampton, who was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit was called in to probe the scene.

Initial investigation revealed that the Nissan was operating southbound on Ashworth Avenue in the left hand lane prior to striking Fields.

Bailey was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol.

The crash remains under investigation.
