ROCHESTER - A Rochester man has been identified as the motorist who died Friday night in a single-car rollover crash on the Spaulding Turnpike.

James Gosselin, 54, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release sent today by State Police.

The driver of the car, Lawrence Douglas, 37, also of Rochester, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Medflight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
The accident occurred around 8:35 p.m. when Douglas' Subaru Forester
appears to have been traveling southbound when it lost control, struck the center concrete barrier, traveled off the right side of the roadway and rolled over several times, police believe.
The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction responded to the scene and was assisted by members of New Hampshire State Police-Troop A, the Rochester Police Department, the Rochester Fire and Rescue Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, as well as The Office of the State Medical Examiner. Route 16 in the area was closed for about five hours.
At this time it appears that speed may have been a factor in this crash, however all aspects remain under investigation. Anyone that may have further information related to this collision is encouraged to contact Trooper Greg Dube at 603-223-8490 or by email at greg.dube@dos.nh.gov.
