Drowning victim identified as longtime Dover man

DOVER - Police say the body of a Dover man found in the Cocheco River on Wednesday died from drowning.

The Dover Police Department identified Danny Carroll, 52, as the victim.

Police first responded around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday to the area behind 3 Green St. after passers-by reported a body in the river.

An autopsy today revealed the cause of Carroll's death to be drowning.

At this time, there does not appear to be any indication that Carroll's death was the result of a crime. He is a longtime Dover resident with no current fixed address.

Officers from the State of New Hampshire's Marine Patrol Unit also assisted at the scene. This case is being investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau.
