ROCHESTER - A Durham man was arrested for DUI after crashing his vehicle in the woods off Farmington Road on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 4:35 p.m. in the area of 180 Farmington Road near Lilac City Pediatrics when police say a 2018 Kia Sorrento driven by Bruce Phillips, 28, was traveling north before crossing over the double yellow line, striking a utility pole and ending up in the woods.

Phillips, who suffered what were described as minor injuries, was arrested for DUI. He was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in Rochester District Court later this month.

The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed.

As a result of the accident several residences and businesses in the area lost power. Eversource responded quickly to address the issues and replace the broken pole.
