BOSTON, Mass. - Elizabeth "Betty" R. Sanborn, of Boston, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the age of 83. She was born August 20, 1935 to Raymond and Edyth (Tingley) Richardson in Dover, N.H.
Betty was a graduate of Spaulding High School class of 1953 and received a degree in Elementary School Education from Keene State College in 1957. She was an impassioned 25 year third grade teacher for the Nottingham School district and described teaching as one of her greatest joys. Upon retirement she fulfilled her lifelong dream of relocating to Boston where she became an active member of the community serving in various organizations including Board of Directors for Rosie's Place, the first women's shelter in the United States, guest speaker on Boston Community TV, and a member of the Eastern Star.

She seized every opportunity to take in the events and sites of her much loved city, Boston. With a lifelong flair for the arts, she loved drawing, painting, fashion, dance, singing in the choir, movies, and a good joke.
She is survived by daughters Susan (Sanborn) Waldman of Killingworth, Conn., and Kimberly (Sanborn) McGlinchey of Strafford, N.H., along with son in-laws Bruce Waldman and Gary McGlinchey. She was a loving grandmother to Caitlin of Providence, R.I., Lyndsey of Brentwood, N.H., and Grahm McGlinchey of New York, N.Y., and to Alex of Brighton, and Matthew Waldman of Dorchester.
