ROCHESTER - On a day that saw donations pour into a Go Fund Me account paying funeral expenses for a Spaulding student thought to have died of a heroin overdose on Saturday, emotions continued to run high at the motel where she died, too, as her father was taken into custody briefly after he kicked in the door of the room where she'd been that fateful day.

According to Rochester Police, the father, whom The Lebanon Voice will not name, kicked in the door of the Riviera Motel room where his daughter, Evangelique "Eve" Tarmey, 17, of Rochester had been staying with her mother and an adult male acquaintance of the mother.

Police, who were at the scene Thursday continuing their investigation, took the father into custody after the incident occurred around 1 p.m.

He was detained briefly and released and thus far has not been charged with any crime in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a group of Spaulding students have begun a Go Fund Me page to help the family with funeral expenses and raise awareness of the growing problem of opiate addiction and its fatal consequence.

"We are all aware of the growing epidemic this state is currently under, and now this hits home for us," the Go Fund Me page message reads. "As students we believe there is something we can do to help this current issue while remembering the life of our fellow classmate, friend, and someone who would've been walking across the stage to graduate with us this year."

As part of the group's remembering of Tarmey, they have scheduled a candlelight vigil at the Rochester Commons for Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m. The message adds that all are welcome.

The issue perhaps most important, the group feels, is to fight to stop the senseless loss of life associated with the current epidemic.

"We believe it is important to come together as a community and remember Eve for who she was - and how this tragedy can inspire us to find a solution to this issue in Eve's memory and everyone else struggling or who have lost the fight to addiction," they say.

As of today almost 30 people had donated to the fund, raising almost $1,200.
