ROCHESTER - Evelyn A. (Evans) Elwell, 92, of Rochester, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Rochester Manor. She was the wife of the late Hudson C. "Hud" Elwell and the daughter of the late William and Jeanne (Dion) Evans. Born on January 11, 1925 in Lynn, she has lived in Lynn and Swampscott, Mass., most of her life before moving to Rochester, New Hampshire in 1994.
She was educated at Lynn Classical High School and worked as an assembler at General Electric in Lynn until her retirement. In her younger years, she worked in the Lynn shoe industry. Evelyn loved to read and was accomplished at crafting, especially knitting, crocheting and needlepoint, but, was most fond of the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children David Elwell of Peabody, Alan Elwell and his wife Lisa of Florida and Beth Salois and her husband David of Maine, as well as her daughter-in-law Deborah Elwell of Saugus, and her seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert, William and John Evans, and Katherine Moren.
