BRENTWOOD, N.H. - More than 14 months after a drunken driving case against a former Middleton police officer that staggered to its adjudication began, a verdict was finally rendered on Thursday.

Sean Dolliver, a 16-year veteran with the Middleton Police Department, was found not guilty by Brentwood District Court Judge Sharon DeVries after a nearly two and a half hour afternoon trial.

During the trial, testimony was listed from five witnesses for the state and one for the defense, though their names were not available from court officials today.

Dolliver had been charged with DWI after a rollover crash in the area of 323 Governors Road in Milton around 11 p.m. on April 28, 2015.

Police at the time said Dolliver's vehicle took out a fence post and rolled over in a ditch.

Dolliver, who was alone in the car and uninjured in the crash, was charged with DWI, a Class B misdemeanor which can include fines but no jail time.

The trial was originally to have taken place last summer in Rochester District Court, but the venue was changed due to a possible conflict of interest with the presiding judge.

It was then set for Feb. 25 in Brentwood District Court, but the three-hour window set aside for arguments and testimony was not enough so it was continued till March, where it was again continued till April and then again until Thursday.

Dolliver was represented by noted Seacoast lawyer Stephen T. Jeffco of Portsmouth.
