ROCHESTER - A Farmington man was arrested for driving drunk Thursday after his truck ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle and a utility pole.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. when police say a 1993 Ford F350 being driven by Shawn Vachon, 36 of Farmington, was traveling west on Gear Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Hansonville and Gear roads, striking a 2015 Toyota Corolla traveling north through the intersection.

The Ford F350 then came to a stop on the utility pole.

Both Vachon and 24-year-old Jess Claridge of Gonic, who was driving the Toyota, refused treatment from EMS personnel.

Vachon was arrested for both DWI and a stop/yield sign violation.

Both vehicles took substantial damage and were towed.
