FARMINGTON - About 20 or so young people from Farmington's First Baptist Church Teens in Ministry group gave out free car washes on Saturday to anyone who wanted one.

"We've actually given out a lot of free ones today," said the church's Rev. Richard Rizzi. "We do accept donations but it's not necessary."

Money raised from the benefit goes to pay for Teens in Ministry activities, Rizzi said.

The Rev. Richard Rizzi of First Baptist Church gives a dirty codes car a good baptizing on Saturday during a car wash benefit in Town Hall parking lot.

Rizzi said they have two such car wash fund-raisers at the Town Hall parking lot every year and folks are always very generous.

For whatever car owners could afford, groups of two or three washers spent some 10 minutes giving the vehicles a good washing.

Seeing a code enforcement vehicle that needed some attention, Rizzi, himself, grabbed a hose and soap to bring it back to respectability.
