ROCHESTER - A lead organizer of Saturday's fund-raiser for former mayor Doug Lachance said on Monday that the benefit raised $10,325 to help the ailing Lachance as he battles Stage 4 melanoma.

The organizer, who has privately asked not to have his name publicized, said that the funds announced did not include the winner's half of a 50-50 raffle which was donated right back to Lachance.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for all the work that was put in the months before the June 9th event," the organizer said in an email. "There are so many people to list that I would feel bad if I left out a business or a name so please spread the word if you know of someone that helped or donated that it was greatly appreciated."

He said this week they will be collecting more ticket money to add to funds collected from a recent meat bingo and other venues to give to Lachance so he can catch up on various debts.

Lachance said on Saturday that the therapy sessions leave him very tired and he's been unable to work his normal hours as a Realtor and businessman for several months.

Saturday's benefit was held at the Rochester American Legion Post 7 on Eastern Avenue and was attended by hundreds of supporters as well as Lachance, who was between immunotherapy sessions at a Boston hospital.
