Fire crews quickly put out electrical blaze at local bank

ROCHESTER - Rochester firefighters extinguished a small fire at the Citizen's Bank at 48 Portland Street on Friday.

The department got the call around 1:30 p.m., with Ladder Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 5, and Chief 2 and Chief 3 vehicles all responding. Upon arrival a small blaze was found in the teller area of the bank.

The fire was quickly extinguished with no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

"I commend today's crew for making quick work of this fire," Chief Sanborn said. "We at Rochester Fire are committed to the safety and security of not only our residents, but also those who work in our community. I am pleased at how our firefighters handled this situation today."
