ROCHESTER - Two Rochester Police Officers, including one who formerly worked as an officer in Milton, on Wednesday received the coveted Silver Star, an award given to officers who have received the Life Saving Award twice.

Marc Cilley, who went from the Milton department to Rochester a couple of years ago, and Mike Lambert both were given the award during a Police Commission meeting.

Lambert tried to save the life of an unresponsive man this summer by giving him CPR until other first responders arrived. Unfortunately, the man later died. Lambert's earlier citation was from 2007.

Cilley's two lifesaving incidents both occurred in August and involved unresponsive individuals who both survived.

Rochester Police Chief Michael Allen noted that the bulk of unresponsive individuals were due to heroin overdoses.

Police now carry Narcan, an anti-opioid that can revive many victims.
