Frefighters quell brush fire, but threat still high

ROCESTER - Rochester firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire on Thursday on Walnut Street.

The call came in around 1 p.m. and when firefighters arrived they found a 400 square foot area charred in the vicinity of 248 Walnut Street.

Engine 5 and Forestry 1 units were able to quickly douse the flames and a call for mutual aid was subsequently canceled.

Units returned to quarters around 2 p.m.

The cause of the blaze was found to be undetermined.

With little rain this month, the fire danger remains high today.
