ROCHESTER - Gerine E. Ranagan "Gerry", 83, died on Saturday, May 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 6, 1935 to Ernest and Irene (Gray) Cormier.
Gerry was a member of the Spaulding High School Class of 1953 where she met and went on to marry her beloved Wayne W. Lavoie, YN1, USN, who predeceased her when the USS Thresher was lost April 10, 1963. She later married Warren F. Ranagan who also predeceased her on April 24, 2004.
Gerry worked in sales and administration her whole life with positions at General Electric, Janco, and Damart. She was a great cook and hostess who was most happy when entertaining family and friends. She loved to play cards, dance, bowl and golf. She also loved to travel throughout the country and took annual cruises to the Caribbean.
After retirement she spent time in California with her son Joseph and his family. Most recently she spent her years at her beloved home on Silver Lake in Shapleigh, Maine in the summer and Belleair Bluffs, outside of Clearwater, Fla., during the winters.
Gerry is survived by her six children, Linda and Husband Alan Durant, Brenda and Husband Tod Kessler, Karen and Husband Hollis Varney, Joseph Lavoie, EOCS, USN (Ret), and Wife Janet, Cynthia Lavoie and James (Rocky) Ranagan; her four siblings, Arline and Husband Harvey Couch, Ronald and Pat Cormier, Sandra Maguire, and Philip and Connie Cormier; her Aunt Bev and Uncle Bob Kempton; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Cormier.
