ROCHESTER - The Rochester Farmers Market is pleased to announce that the Vouchers for Veterans program is returning this month.

Every Tuesday throughout the month of September, Strafford County Veterans can go to the Rochester Farmers Market between 3-6 p.m. and, with proof of military service and residency, receive $20 in vouchers to spend at any of the market's vendors.

Proof of service and proper ID needs to be one of the following: DD-214, Active Duty Card, medical picture ID from Veterans Affairs or a current New Hampshire driver's license with the "veteran" designation.

Now in its fourth year, the nonprofit program supports those who have served by giving them the opportunity to pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, produce, meats, cheeses and more from local vendors.

"We're thrilled to be able to once again provide this program to our local veterans," Economic Development Specialist Jennifer Marsh said. "This is a small way the community can say thank you for their service."

In addition to picking up fresh food, on Sept. 10, Tresses Hair Salon will close their Rochester salon for the day to be at the market to give free haircuts to interested veterans. Vet to Vet will also be on hand each Tuesday to help veterans navigate the VA system more efficiently.

Anyone who would like to support the Vouchers for Veterans program with a tax exempt donation can do so here. For more information on the market, click here.
