ROCHESTER - Gladys Estelle Nelson, 90, formerly of 13B Felker Street died Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at the Rochester Manor after a period of failing health.
She was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of George and Gladys Estelle (Disney) Stevens.
She attended the Baltimore school system and worked in a local bakery and at Pittsburgh Paint Company. Gladys worked in the medical records department for the University of Maryland Hospital. She has resided in Rochester since 1985 previously living in Severn, Md.
Gladys was an active member of the Church of God where she served as Sunday school teacher, taught daily vacation Bible School, and helped in many capacities within her churches. She enjoyed crocheting all her life.
The widow of Jimmie J. Nelson who died in 1987, she is survived by two sons, Rev. Wayne Nelson and Clifton R. Nelson and wife Linda; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Fay Nelson in 2014.
